Social Media

Social media is continuously changing, not too mention the popularity of each platform is different from day to day. However, there is always going to be platforms for people to post, promote and market. Social media can be defined as the accumulation of online platforms that include sharing and partnering with an online community by posting, commenting, and interacting with one another. The most common social media platforms used today are Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Snapchat.

Different Content Across Different Channels

One of the best things you can remember as a marketer is that there are different types of audiences on different platforms. Each social media channel has their own way of delivering content and their own audience who depend on receiving content in that fashion. Audiences will admire that you took the time and effort to modify content according to the demands of that distinctive platform. Therefore, creating new and applicable content on the correct platform allows you to attract your target audience. With that being said, we must remember that the average social media user doesn’t allow for more than a few seconds to a post – which is why call to actions are extremely important, as well as captivating and eye-catching posts.

Cross-posting can be tempting due to the fact that it keeps your page active, saves time and makes it easy to post on each channel. “If you’re short-changing your followers on one platform by sharing content that was optimized for another, they’re going to notice. Seeing a post with a cut-off caption or a weirdly cropped image looks lazy at best, and spammy at worst.” Let’s not forget to mention that your followers aren’t the only ones who are noticing when you copy and paste content—social media channels are catching on, too. Twitter, for example is cutting down on automation and matching content as part of an effort to repress bots and spam accounts. Other channels are likely to follow suit and take steps to limit unsolicited messages.

Looking to the Future

Chatbots are one of the newest trends on social media. Making it more and more simple for people to communicate with companies through social media. Taking this into consideration, AI is the future of social media marketing allowing you to have conversations with your customers. Chatbots powered by AI are being used on Facebook Messenger by many brands to promote their products and even give solutions to customers’ problems. “Chatbots reach your consumers where they want to be reached. “People are now spending more time on their messaging apps than their social media apps,” says Ilkovich. While we don’t recommend deactivating your Twitter account, adding a chatbot into the mix gives you another channel and distribution method to reach your audience.”

Chatbots are definitely involved in the changes within both human behavior and technology. Technology is becoming more and more interactive, personal and just flat out smart. Due to this, humans are losing patience and do not expect to have to wait for assistance from a brand. Remember dial up? We would lose our minds today if we had to wait for an internet connection and could not simply pull it up on our phones.
